The ROLLING STONE has described Jay Z as One of the greatest living rappers and certainly the most inventive and consistently successful in and out of the Music Business spearheading the Hip-Hop game to greater heights.
The rapper and Roc Nation have signed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell, a division of the Warner Music Group.
The deal will also give Warner/Chappell rights to most of Jay’s entire catalog by the end of 2013, both past and Present as well as any future works.
Through a separate deal, Warner/Chappell will also represent the songwriters/Artists at Jay-Z’s entertainment and management company, Roc Nation that’s the likes of Rita Ora, Bridgit Kelly as well as Record Producer Jahlil Beats among others.
Jay who has long had his publishing represented by EMI Music Publishing, which was taken over by Sony/ATV last year which was led by Jon Platt who was one of the Execs, who later moved to Warner/Chappell.After much conviction to Jay Z, the deal was reached.Jon Platt has had a long career engagement with Jay Z that dates back to the start of the rappers career and who was rumoured to be joining Roc Nation.
According to the NEW YORK TIMES In a statement, Jay-Z said, “The real meaning of success is being in the position to work with an individual you consider a friend. Jon Platt is such a person.
